Hamilton wary of Red Bull potential
2 March 2014 – Lewis Hamilton reckons Red Bull will be competitive once the team gets on top of the issues that have plagued its pre-season test period.
While Red Bull has struggled with an array of technical issues ahead of the new campaign, Hamilton's Mercedes team topped the combined testing mileage charts, with the Briton also setting the pace on the final day of this week's gathering at the Bahrain International Circuit.
But Hamilton is certain that the reigning World Champions will be able to overcome its early woes, and has tipped the RB10 to perform well.
"They look like they have a stunning car," he said. "Usually, the more beautiful it is the faster it is, so I'm sure they've got a pretty quick car.
"Once they get the engine sorted, or the systems that they might be struggling with, I think they will be, as always, very hard to beat. Sebastian is the World Champion so he's the target for everyone.
"But I know my team is strong so hopefully we'll be able to fight with them."
Expanding on his own team's chances, Hamilton says he expects plenty more to come from the W05.
"There are still things we're learning, things we haven't covered. There's tonnes of stuff," he explained.
"As we go into the race weekend it will be a bit like a test on the Friday. I think there's a lot more to come.
"There will be mistakes through the whole paddock I'm sure, and hopefully we'll make the least."
