France on verge of new Formula 1 deal
7 March 2014 – Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone says France is close to making a return to the calendar.
The country last hosted a Grand Prix at Magny-Cours back in 2008, and Ecclestone is now pushing to secure a fresh long-term deal with the venue, explaining that the basic terms of an agreement have been outlined.
"We have got a contract on the table with France for a race at Magny-Cours," Ecclestone told America's Racer.
He added: "To meet the terms of our contract, the organisers will need money and we will want some kind of guarantee that it's not going to be a one-night stand. It was [originally] going to take place this year, actually."
Earlier this week, Ecclestone revealed plans to hand Azerbaijan a slot on the calendar in the near future.
