Ricciardo still proud of Melbourne showing
17 March 2014 – Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo says he remains proud of his performance in Sunday's Australian Grand Prix, despite losing a maiden Formula 1 podium finish because of a fuel flow rate breach.
While Nico Rosberg stormed to victory for Mercedes, Ricciardo kept McLaren's Kevin Magnussen and Jenson Button at bay to finish second.
But post-race investigations saw the stewards disqualify Ricciardo's car, after determining that it consistently exceeded the 100kg/h fuel flow limit.
"I still stood there [on the podium] and that was a great feeling," a philosophical Ricciardo explained to reporters in Melbourne on Monday.
Via Twitter, he added: "Mixed emotions but all in all a great weekend. Nothing [is] taking this feeling away."
Red Bull, with the assistance of engine supplier Renault, is appealing the decision to exclude Ricciardo.
