Sepang International Circuit tweaked
26 March 2014 – Minor adjustments have been made to the Sepang International Circuit ahead of this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix, the FIA has announced.
The tweaks see the kerb on the exit of Turn Five extended further towards the apex of Turn 6, while artificial grass has been removed from the areas around the outside of Turns One, Five, Seven, Eight and 12. A new kerb has also been installed on the Turn 15 entry. Finally, attention has been paid to levelling the grass verges as bumps were noted during December’s inspection.
Meanwhile, the FIA has said the two DRS zones will remain in the same place as in 2013, namely between Turns 14 and 15 (on the back straight) and between Turns 15 and One (on the pit straight): “The first zone has [the] detection [point] 54m after Turn 12 and activation 104m after Turn 14. Zone two has detection 16m after the Turn 15 apex followed by activation 28m after Turn 15,” the FIA added.
