Qualifying delayed due to heavy rainfall
29 March 2014 – Qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix has been delayed due to heavy rainfall. The start of Q1 is now due to get underway 15 minutes later than planned, although further thunderstorms are forecast.
Following the final free practice session of the weekend, headed by Mercedes duo Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, a sizeable rain shower arrived and has failed to ease, making for undriveable conditions.
The delay means there will be no track action until at least 16:15 local time (GMT +8), although Race Control has confirmed that it will issue another schedule update, responding to the weather conditions, at 16:05.
16:05 – Qualifying delayed by a further 15 minutes
16:20 – Qualifying delayed by a further 15 minutes
16:35 – Qualifying delayed by a further 5 minutes
16:45 – Confirmed qualifying start time of 16:50
