Kvyat encouraged by Toro Rosso potential
30 March 2014 – Daniil Kvyat was left feeling positive about Toro Rosso's chances throughout the 2014 season after claiming a second consecutive points finish in the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The Russian, who scored on his debut at Albert Park, battled hard in the heat and humidity of Sepang to cross the line in 10th position, just behind fellow rookie Kevin Magnussen.
"It's good to finish in the top ten for a second time in a row now," said Kvyat.
"This afternoon's race was very difficult and intense with a lot of fighting. The first two stints were hard when I was fighting the Williams and McLaren in the early stages, but they were faster than me on the straight. I was quite happy with the final stint and having managed to defend my position.
"Overall it was a good weekend and I hope we continue to improve like this as the car definitely has potential."
Kvyat says he is now eager to discover his form on a track that he has already driven, as the field head straights to Sakhir for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
"I'm looking forward to going to Bahrain to race again in a week's time," said Kvyat. "It will be interesting to be on a track where we have actually tested with this car."
In the sister Toro Rosso, Jean-Éric Vergne was forced to retire after sustaining car damage in an early clash.
