Ecclestone tips Haas for 2015 F1 entry
3 April 2014 – Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has suggested that Gene Haas will ultimately be given the green light to join the grid with his American-based outfit in 2015, following the FIA's tender to secure new teams.
Back in December, the FIA officially started its search for additional F1 teams. A final decision over the matter was expected to arrive on February 28, but this was delayed by the governing body to an unknown date.
While uncertainty hangs on the air, Ecclestone has stated that Haas, the joint owner of the NASCAR title-winning Stewart-Haas Racing squad, is likely to make the cut when an entry is finally granted for a 12th team.
"I think Haas will be accepted," Ecclestone is quoted as saying by The Independent.
"They have got the money but it's a question of whether they are going to spend it."
American-based USF1 attempted to enter Formula 1 in 2010, but folded before the season began.
