Hamilton: You can't always get it right
5 April 2014 – Lewis Hamilton was philosophical after making a crucial error on his final attempt during qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Having topped all three practice sessions, the Mercedes driver was favourite to secure pole position in Saturday's grid-deciding hour.
But a mistake at Turn 1 ended his hopes of improving and saw him finish behind team-mate Nico Rosberg, who was faster on the first timed runs.
"I just locked up. You can't always get it right," Hamilton explained.
Despite the obvious disappointment of missing out on pole position, Hamilton was quick to congratulate Rosberg on his performance.
"Congratulations to Nico who has done a great job," he said. "He is improving and picking up the pace."
