We learned a lot today, says Kvyat
8 April 2014 – Daniil Kvyat has revealed Toro Rosso today 'learned something about why they were not as strong as expected' in the Bahrain Grand Prix, during the first day of testing at the Sakhir Circuit.
Kvyat did 67 laps in total focusing mainly on chassis work over long runs, as well as carrying out some tyre tests, and despite ending up slowest on a 1:40.452s, he maintained it was a positive day.
"Even if you can't see it from looking at the timing screen, this was a productive day during which we learned a lot," noted the Russian. "It was very useful for me, giving me a lot of laps away from the race weekend environment. We also learned something about why our pace was not as strong as we had expected in Sunday's race."
"I think this in-season testing is a very useful thing, not just for the teams, but also for guys like me who have to catch up in terms of experience," added the F1 2014 rookie.
Team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne will now take over at the wheel of the STR9 on Wednesday, the last day of the two-day session.
