Times are tough, admits Kaltenborn
22 April 2014 – Sauber Team Principal Monisha Kaltenborn has admitted the Swiss squad is going through a 'tough time', although she insists this is 'no reason' for them to 'bury their heads in the sand'.
Sauber have struggled so far this season, with Adrian Sutil suffering his third retirement in a row in China last weekend and while team-mate, Esteban Gutiérrez did finish – albeit for only the second time this season, he was a disappointing 16th and a lap down due to tyre wear problems.
"We are obviously not happy with this kind of performance," said Kaltenborn. "We are going through a tough time, but this is no reason for us to bury our heads in the sand.
"We need to continue working in a very focused way now and make sure we get the maximum from our development package for the next race in Barcelona."
Giampaolo Dall'Ara, Sauber's Head of Track Engineering, added: "This was obviously not the result we wanted. The performance was simply not good enough."
