Lotus to pay homage to El Greco
4 May 2014 – Lotus will pay homage to Spanish painter El Greco by running a commemorative livery during next weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.
The E22 will feature a special livery to pay tribute to the Spanish Renaissance painter on the 400th anniversary of his death.
"This is the first time a Formula 1 team has publicised a Spanish cultural event so prominently," said team owner Gérard Lopez, who came up with the idea.
"We will promote the El Greco exhibition – for no commercial fee - to a global TV audience of over 600 million people. Through this the legend of El Greco will be displayed in support of Spanish Culture and cultural tourism in Spain."
Commemorative helmets will also be presented to Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and to King Juan Carlos I, who will attend the race next Sunday.
