Smedley: Williams prepared for Spanish GP
7 May 2014 – Williams' Head of Vehicle Performance Rob Smedley has said the team feels 'prepared' for the Spanish Grand Prix this coming weekend.
Williams have made a strong start to the 2014 Formula 1 season and took 36 points in total from the four flyaways in Australia, Malaysia, Bahrain and China. As yet, however, the squad still hasn't got a podium and Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas will be hoping the updates for Barcelona will aid them in their bid to get on the rostrum.
"Spain is a good leveller. Getting back to Europe gives teams the opportunity to bring further upgrades, which we will also be doing," Smedley remarked. "Barcelona and the following two or three races gives everyone a good indication of how the rest of the season will play out and who has made the most progress since the start of the season."
"The teams and drivers know the track well, meaning we can gain a lot of accurate data on how the upgrades are working. This knowledge is also very useful when back in factory; it means we can replicate the track and conditions very closely.
"We feel prepared going in to the weekend and are now interested to see where we are in comparison to our competitors," he added.
