Murray Walker: Force India the heroes so far
7 May 2014 – Force India are the heroes of the season so far, legendary Formula 1 commentator Murray Walker has said ahead of this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.
The Force India F1 team has taken 54 points from the first four races, and currently sits third in the Constructors' Championship, two points up on Ferrari and just three points behind Red Bull Racing.
Speaking in his 'F1 Report Card' for BBC Sport, Walker added he would give the squad ten out of ten for the way it has performed.
"For me, the Force India F1 team are the heroes so far," Walker said. "Compared to the mega spending top teams, they are paupers. But they have been punching way above their weight. A magnificent third for Sergio Pérez in Bahrain, Nico Hülkenberg is a superb fourth in the Drivers' Championship and the team is third in the Constructors' Championship [too] - absolutely brilliant."
Meanwhile, Walker also saluted Mercedes: "It has taken Mercedes four years to get there. But by exploiting the new regulations brilliantly they are way ahead," Walker noted.
"[Also] to their credit there have been no team orders and that gave us that wonderful battle in Bahrain. Lewis Hamilton's and Nico Rosberg's rivalry could well out do even that of the [Ayrton] Senna and [Alain] Prost McLaren years [too]."
"Four races, four wins and a massive leads in both championships: Mercedes have persevered, spent big and really deserve their success," Walker concluded
