Promoters meet ahead of Barcelona race
11 May 2014 – Formula 1 race promoters met ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix to discuss fans' concerns over the sport.
Overseen by Ron Walker, Chairman of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC), the meeting was staged "for the benefit of all of the fans who are concerned about maintaining the unique feeling of Formula 1."
Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone was also in attendance, while 17 countries were represented.
In the wake of the season-opening Melbourne event, Walker had hit out at the sound of the sport's new turbocharged power units, and said he would be conversing with Ecclestone in a bid to find a solution.
"I was not too happy with the sound," said Walker, speaking to The Age. "We are resolving that with Bernie.
"He's [Ecclestone] horrified about it. It will be an issue for all promoters all round the world."
Governing body the FIA has not released any details about the topics covered during the meeting.
