Mark Sutton: Story behind the shot - Spain
15 May 2014 – Especially for lovers of motorsport photography, GPUpdate.net is this season running a feature series entitled Story behind the shot. Mark Sutton of Sutton Images, who provides our website with pictures, will choose his favourite photo from each Grand Prix weekend with a description as to how he captured it.
Spanish Grand Prix: #selfie
Mark Sutton: "It has become a bit of a thing to take selfies and Fernando Alonso has showcased his talent for these over the past few years. During the autograph sessions at Barcelona with fans in the pit lane, he again performed this ritual. I was in the media centre shooting down on to the crowd as it gives more depth and shows the banks of people trying to secure a signature from their heroes. Some races have lines or tables, but in Spain its safety fences with fans pushing and shoving their shirts, prints and flags into the drivers' faces. Fernando wanted to celebrate with his fans who got close to him and it created a great image, for both him and me!"
