Maldonado: Barcelona our first normal test
15 May 2014 – Pastor Maldonado felt positive about Lotus's progress after experiencing his "first normal test" of 2014.
After test driver Charles Pic racked up 70 laps on the opening day of the post-Spanish Grand Prix gathering in Barcelona, the Venezuelan added 102 more to the tally 24 hours later en route to topping the timesheets.
"It was our first normal test session without any problems," Maldonado commented. "Tuesday was a good day, but on my day it was important to run our programme. We were able to complete all of our plan which is positive.
"We are happy as we did not have any big issues. We are learning more from the car, getting better and better."
Maldonado is hoping that the two-day test marks a turning point in the outfit's so far challenging campaign.
"It's a big step forward," Maldonado went on to explain. "We tried different things and we did a good programme.
"It was quite busy and we learned a lot. Hopefully it'll be much better for the rest of the season for us."
