Horner: Ricciardo already earned 2015 seat
16 May 2014 – Christian Horner says Daniel Ricciardo has already done enough to secure his seat for the 2015 season.
The Australian signed a three-year deal with the World Champion team after two campaigns at junior outfit Toro Rosso, with his first official podium finish – after disqualification in Australia – coming at the Spanish Grand Prix.
"I cannot speak highly enough of what Daniel has done in the first five races," said Red Bull team boss Horner. "He has done a great job and is so calm in the car. He continues to impress us with his speed and his approach.
"He is enjoying what he is doing and you never see him not smiling. It is a pleasure to have him in the team."
Making reference to Ferrari's reported quest to lure design chief Adrian Newey away from Red Bull, Horner added: "We have always believed in stability and continuity. Daniel is on a long-term contract with the team and it will be highly unlikely he will be anywhere else next year – unless of course Ferrari are chasing him as well."
Horner was also keen to make it clear that Ricciardo has been working extremely well with Sebastian Vettel.
"It's a walk in the park compared to previous years," he said. "But that is part of the challenge of being a boss."
