Magny-Cours edging closer to 2015 return
20 May 2014 – Magny-Cours is closing in on a return to the Formula 1 calendar, the circuit's chief has explained.
Serge Saulnier, Chairman of the Board for Magny-Cours, says talks are ongoing with Bernie Ecclestone and Formula One Management (FOM) with a view to bringing the circuit back to the roster next season.
"We are still in negotiations with FOM," Saulnier told French television station INFOSPORT+ when quizzed about the current situation. "We are a candidate for a date in 2015, but for the moment nothing is signed."
He added: "We have been working on it for more than three years, it has built slowly but surely, and I feel that the time has arrived to sign this agreement. I hope and I would like it to be done before the summer."
The French Grand Prix has been off the calendar since 2008, when Magny-Cours last hosted a race.
