Hamilton: Fortunately I made no mistakes
25 May 2014 – Lewis Hamilton says he was pleased to limit the damage of a challenging weekend by finishing second to Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg in Sunday afternoon's Monaco Grand Prix.
Having been unable to find a way past the German into the first corner, Hamilton struggled to put together a genuine attack for the lead.
And when dirt got stuck under his visor in the closing stages of the race, the Briton turned his attention to fending off Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo.
"It was a good day. I'm pleased to get another 1-2," Hamilton began.
"I felt that I was very strong, but it's very, very difficult to overtake here."
Referring to the importance of the points collected, he added: "Fortunately we didn't make any mistakes."
Hamilton trails Rosberg by four points in the championship standings with six rounds completed.
