Ricciardo: Third the best we could do
25 May 2014 – Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo says he got the most he could have achieved from the Monaco Grand Prix by claiming the final podium spot.
Although the Australian dropped to fifth at the start, he recovered when Ferrari's Kimi Räikkönen and team-mate Sebastian Vettel hit trouble.
He reeled in Lewis Hamilton in the closing stages amid his Mercedes rival's vision problems, but admitted that nothing more was possible.
"It's really nice to be up on the podium in Monaco," said Ricciardo.
"My start was not great; there was a bit of frustration after that. Then Vettel had a problem and Räikkönen got a puncture, so we inherited third.
"At the end we really closed in [on Hamilton] but third was the best we could do."
