Daniel Ricciardo wary going to Canada
28 May 2014 – Daniel Ricciardo believes Red Bull Racing is unlikely to be as competitive in Canada next week.
Ricciardo was buoyed by his second podium on the trot in Monaco last weekend, and at the end was right on the tail of the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton, piling on the pressure over the final few laps.
However, the Australian is conscious that Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a very different proposition to Monte Carlo.
"We closed up a bit here in Monaco which we knew would be our best chance up until now. This circuit definitely suits our package a bit better than previous circuits," he said, "but we still did not finish in front, so, unfortunately, it is still not where we want to be."
"Montreal is still a street circuit [too] but unfortunately the straights go on a little bit longer there," he added. "We are still down a little bit in that area which I think everyone is aware of, although we have made progress. Whether it will be enough by then, honestly, probably not but we are closing the gap so, that is all we can ask for, for now."
"We will just keep chipping away at it and be patient. I am sure with a bit of perseverance we will get there," he summed-up.
