Fernandes: Caterham Group is not for sale
27 May 2014 – Tony Fernandes has spoken out to clarify that he is not looking to sell the Caterham Group, which includes the Caterham Formula 1 Team, following reports to the contrary in the Malaysian media.
"The Caterham Group is not for sale," he said in a statement issued on Tuesday evening. "We love what we build and we are always looking for further investment. This is no different to how we started AirAsia
"Yes, we are constantly challenging ourselves and making decisions on everything from the structure to projects within the Group. That is normal business.
"That does not mean we are selling."
Indeed the shareholders of the Group, co-Chairmen Fernandes and Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, both said they 'remain wholly committed to the Caterham brand'.
The missive follows reports over the Monaco Grand Prix weekend that the Caterham Group was up for sale, now dismissed as 'factually incorrect'.
"It is, however, true that the Group is actively searching for additional investment as it seeks to fulfil ambitious plans to develop," the statement added.
