Coulthard calls for two pit boxes per team
29 May 2014 – David Coulthard believes that Formula 1 teams should be allowed to use two pit boxes in future seasons.
The ex-Formula 1 driver has made the claim in the wake of the Monaco Grand Prix, during which a Safety Car period forced most teams to stack their drivers to avoid losing crucial time by completing another lap.
It is a challenge that teams have faced for many years, but Coulthard reckons it can be easily solved.
"This has fallen on deaf ears before, but I think we should have two pit boxes, because otherwise it neutralises the inter-team battle as it benefits the guy in front," said Coulthard in his latest column for The Telegraph.
"If you want to see a true battle of man against man we should get away from this single stop."
