Hamilton 'cool' again with Rosberg
2 June 2014 – Lewis Hamilton has revealed that everything is now 'cool' with Nico Rosberg as F1 heads to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix.
The two Mercedes drivers fell out in Monaco after Rosberg went off on his final run in the top-ten shootout and brought out the yellow flags. That meant Hamilton had to abort his lap, handing Rosberg a controversial pole. Rosberg then went on to win the race, with Hamilton finishing second and telling reporters that the two were 'not friends but colleagues'.
"We have been friends a long time and as friends we have our ups and downs," Hamilton explained in a tweet on Friday. "Today we spoke and we're cool, still friends."
Meanwhile in Mercedes' official preview for Canada, Hamilton added: "Of course, from a personal perspective it [second place in Monaco] wasn't what I was aiming for. I race to win every time and unfortunately it just wasn't my weekend. But I drove with all my heart and gave it all I could.
"I head to the next race now with even more energy and determination. Montreal is one of my favourite weekends of the year," he continued.
"It's where I won my first Grand Prix back in 2007 and I've had another two victories there since, so it holds some special memories for me.
"It is one I always love to go to and there is always a great crowd, so I'm hoping for them that the weather is good and we can put on a great show!"
