Vettel glad Red Bull capitalised on mayhem
8 June 2014 – Sebastian Vettel was glad that his Red Bull team found itself in a position to capitalise on a dramatic end to the Canadian Grand Prix.
While team-mate Daniel Ricciardo pulled a move on Nico Rosberg's sick Mercedes in the closing stages of the race, Vettel saw off Force India's Sergio Pérez – who ultimately ended his afternoon in the Turn 1 barriers are a collision with Felipe Massa – to secure the final podium spot.
"Congratulations to Daniel first of all, it's his day," said Vettel.
"The race came to life at the end and we were there to capitalise."
Vettel was all the more pleased with the result given the Renault power unit's lack of straight line speed.
"It was difficult for us," he said. "I was stuck behind [Nico] Hülkenberg and Daniel was stuck behind Pérez."
Red Bull's double podium cements its second position in the standings, behind runaway leaders Mercedes.
