Rosberg: I didn't know what was going on
8 June 2014 – Nico Rosberg admits that he was clueless as to what caused his loss of power during Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
Having controlled the opening half of the race from pole position, the Mercedes driver and team-mate Lewis Hamilton began to gradually lose power, with the latter ultimately retiring due to a brake problem.
The German did his best to hold on for victory, but could do nothing to fend off Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo, who passed with two laps left to run.
"It was a big battle all the way," Rosberg explained after the race. "I managed to keep the lead at Turn 1 and stayed ahead until the second stops. But then we had a problem at my stop and dropped behind.
"I didn't know what was going on after that. I lost a lot of power and was very slow down the straights.
"I lost a lot of time as a result and it didn't quite work out against Daniel in the end."
Although disappointed not to win, Rosberg has extended his lead over team-mate Hamilton to 22 points.
