Massa, Pérez released from hospital
8 June 2014 – Felipe Massa and Sergio Pérez have been released from hospital after their frightening accident late in the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Williams driver was attempting to overtake his Force India rival on the run down to the first corner on the final lap of the race, but the pair collided and dramatically slammed into the trackside barriers.
Massa was lapping on much fresher tyres at the time, while Pérez had been struggling to manage an issues with his rear brakes.
Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel, who claimed the final podium position, was close to being collected by Massa as the crash unravelled.
"I saw something coming in the mirror, opened the car and turned right," Vettel said. "I was quite lucky."
The stewarding panel, which this weekend includes Derek Daly, are currently investigating the incident.
