Pérez handed grid drop after Massa clash
8 June 2014 – Force India driver Sergio Pérez will drop five places on the Austrian Grand Prix grid after the stewards declared him responsible for his collision with Williams rival Felipe Massa late in Sunday's race.
Massa was attempting to find a way past Pérez for third at the start of the final lap, but the pair banged wheels and slid into the trackside barriers, the former narrowly avoiding Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull machine.
Having reviewed the available footage, the stewards felt Pérez was at fault because he changed his line.
"Car #11 changed his racing line which caused the impact with car #19 in Turn 1," read a stewards' statement.
Both Pérez and Massa were taken to hospital for precautionary checks, but have since been released.
