Pérez/Massa collision to be reviewed
20 June 2014 – Force India driver Sergio Pérez and Williams rival Felipe Massa will meet with the stewards at the Red Bull Ring this afternoon, with a second hearing into their Canadian Grand Prix collision being confirmed.
Pérez and Massa clashed on the final lap of the Montreal race while battle for fourth position, with the stewarding panel ultimately determining that the Mexican was at fault and handing him a five-place grid penalty for Austria.
Ahead of this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix, Force India wrote to governing body the FIA and argued that it had 'new elements' of evidence, requesting a review as permitted under article 13.10 of the FIA Sporting Code.
A special hearing with the Austria stewarding panel took place ahead of Friday morning's opening free practice session in Spielberg, during which it was decided that the 'new elements' put forward by the team exist.
Pérez, Massa and representatives from their respective teams will now meet in a separate hearing at 4pm. The incident will be fully reviewed by the Austria stewards, who have the power to overturn Pérez's grid drop.
