McLaren: Gains frustratingly incremental
26 June 2014 – Eric Boullier has insisted McLaren is on the right path, even if the gains being made are 'frustratingly incremental'.
Kevin Magnussen and Jenson Button finished a mediocre seventh and eleventh respectively in Austria last weekend and with Williams taking third and fourth, the Woking-based outfit slipped back to sixth in the 2014 Formula 1 Constructors' Championship, 13 points adrift.
Speaking about the team's bid to make progress and move back up the grid, Boullier conceded there are no easy answers.
"We are on the right development path, even if the gains we are making are frustratingly incremental at the moment," said Boullier, McLaren's Racing Director.
"We will continue to work as hard as we possibly can [now] in an effort gradually to enlarge those gains.
"But it won't be an instant fix."
Despite that, however, Boullier added McLaren is looking forward to Silverstone and racing on home soil next weekend. He also added that Button and Magnussen will be going all out to get a good result.
"We're very much looking forward to the British Grand Prix," Boullier continued, "where, once again, you can be well sure that Jenson and Kevin will both be driving their hearts out in an effort to put on a good show."
