Mansell, Fittipaldi to join Silverstone parades
27 June 2014 – Former Formula 1 World Champions Nigel Mansell and Emerson Fittipaldi are the latest high-profile names confirmed to be taking part in Silverstone's packed 50th Grand Prix car parades next weekend.
While Mansell, a four-time winner at Silverstone, is yet to name the machine that he will be driving, Fittipaldi, who has twice triumphed at the circuit, will get behind the wheel of his 1974 title-winning McLaren M23.
"Silverstone is the spiritual home of Formula 1 and we should all feel proud of the circuit hosting its 50th Grand Prix," said Mansell, who claimed his sole world title with the Williams team during the 1992 season.
"It has a special place in my heart and a rich heritage that cannot be replicated by other circuits."
Fittipaldi added: "It is an honour to be able to celebrate this 50th running of the Grand Prix at Silverstone, as well as the 40th anniversary of winning the first ever World Championship for the iconic McLaren team.
"More than that, it will be with great emotion that I will be able to do that in front of the British fans, because England is the place where I started my international career, a second home for me."
