Stevens pleased with Silverstone test mileage
9 July 2014 – Will Stevens was pleased with his mileage total on the opening day of post-race testing at Silverstone.
The Caterham tester, who classified at the bottom of the timesheets, recorded the third highest lap tally of the 11 drivers present as 2014's third in-season gathering got underway, touring the circuit 95 times.
"I've done a lot of mileage already this year in the 2014 car but all in the simulator, so it was really good to be in the real car and to have a decent day," said Stevens, currently competing in Formula Renault 3.5.
"The morning session was a bit stop/start as we had a few software issues that needed fixing, but we still completed 71 laps by the time we stopped for a break and by then I was increasingly comfortable in the car.
"We completed 13 runs with a total of 95 laps and have a lot of data for the guys at the factory to work through."
GP2 drivers Julián Leal and Rio Haryanto are sharing the CT05 for the second and final test day.
