Lotus confirms Maldonado for 2015 season
19 July 2014 – Lotus has confirmed that Pastor Maldonado will remain with the team for the 2015 campaign.
The Venezuelan, who switched from Williams at the end of last season, has endured a challenging start to life at the Enstone-based outfit, failing to score a point over 2014's opening nine races.
But Lotus Co-Chairman and Team Principal Gérard Lopez confirmed after qualifying for the German Grand Prix that Maldonado is to stay onboard for at least another year.
"I don't want to give too much away, but as it's half way through the season I can confirm 50 per cent of our driver line-up for 2015 as Pastor is with us for next year," Lopez commented.
"Despite the difficulties we've had so far this season, he recognises our true potential as a team and we recognise his true potential as a driver. We will achieve great things together."
Romain Grosjean's future is unclear, but Lopez is hopeful of convincing the Frenchman to re-sign.
"Romain is well aware of the prowess of Enstone after having finished on the podium for the past two years in one of our cars," Lopez added.
