Vettel in 'fun' Hockenheim fight with Alonso
21 July 2014 – Sebastian Vettel says he enjoyed his scrap with Fernando Alonso during the German Grand Prix.
It was a case of déjà-vu at Hockenheim for the two multiple Formula 1 World Champions as, following their fight at Silverstone two weeks ago, they again found themselves fighting over the same piece of track.
Vettel ultimately came out on top, this time claiming fourth, rather than fifth.
"It was fun with Fernando – we started maybe where we left off in Silverstone! It was quite entertaining the first half of the race and at one point it was quite tight with both the Ferraris, but we managed to stay ahead," Vettel reflected after the 10th round of the season.
"The second stop was a bit too close and Fernando was able to pass without too many difficulties, which put us on the back foot, but we decided to be a bit more aggressive towards the end and make sure we got the undercut.
"Then we could put some gap between us, which was crucial for us as we were quite tight in terms of fuel towards the end of the race.
"I think that was the best we could get."
