Hamilton: I can't focus more or work harder
21 July 2014 – Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton says he cannot do any more to win the title this season and that he is already giving "absolutely everything to get back on level terms".
Hamilton looked to have regained the momentum after his win at Silverstone, which allowed him to slash the gap to team-mate Nico Rosberg from 29 points to just four.
However, the pendulum swung the other way again in Germany and he will now go to Hungary this coming week 14 points adrift.
"I'm doing absolutely everything I can to get back on level terms with Nico in the title battle: I can't focus more or work harder than I am doing right now," Hamilton insisted after recovering from his crash in qualifying to finish third on Sunday.
"I can't be too ecstatic about the race because it has been a tough weekend for me and I've ultimately lost more points to Nico in the championship battle. But I'm grateful that I could limit the damage with a podium finish.
"This championship is proving a big challenge for me but that's how I love it – and I wouldn't have it any other way."
