Smedley: Both cars on podium aim now
21 July 2014 – Rob Smedley has said that Williams now wants a double podium finish in the wake of Valtteri Bottas' latest success in the German Grand Prix.
Bottas took his third rostrum in a row on Sunday at Hockenheim, fending off Lewis Hamilton to secure second place.
However, with Felipe Massa going out on the opening lap after contact with Kevin Magnussen, it was a bitter sweet result.
"We got only one car home, so we are not as happy as we could be," explained Smedley, Williams' Head of Performance Engineering.
"However, Valtteri did do a fantastic job and the guys on the pit wall were exceptional. We kept calm and did what we needed to do.
"Our strategy at times was different to others, but we kept our confidence and Valtteri pushed when we needed him to.
"We have now overtaken Ferrari in the Constructors' Championship which is the reward for our continuing improvements.
"We just need that bad luck for Felipe to stop as our aim now is to get both cars on the podium."
Bottas' points haul moves Williams up to third in the Constructors' standings and ahead of Ferrari.
