Tost: Kvyat is doing a fantastic job
22 July 2014 – Toro Rosso team boss Franz Tost has heaped praise on Daniil Kvyat for "doing a fantastic job" during the first half of his rookie Formula 1 season.
Kvyat, who made the step up to the top echelon immediately after winning the GP3 Series title, has reached Q3 on five occasions and claimed four points finishes.
"Taking into consideration how little mileage he was able to do before the season, he is driving very well, showing that he has natural speed," Tost commented.
"Equally importantly, he has had no accidents, nor has he made any mistakes. He is doing a fantastic job.
Tost also had positive words for team-mate Jean-Éric Vergne, contesting his third season with the outfit.
The Frenchman has one less top 10 result than Kvyat but has retired from half of the races, mostly due to technical problems.
"He has suffered a lot with reliability issues, but when his car was running fine, he delivered good performances," explained Tost.
"Thanks to his experience he makes an important contribution to the team's technical development and I'm convinced that there is still more to come from him."
