Mark Sutton: Story behind the shot - Germany
23 July 2014 – Especially for lovers of motorsport photography, GPUpdate.net is this season running a feature series entitled Story behind the shot. Mark Sutton of Sutton Images, who provides our website with pictures, will choose his favourite photo from each Grand Prix weekend with a description as to how he captured it.
German Grand Prix: Nico waves
Mark Sutton: "Hockenheim was a weekend to celebrate the German World Cup success. Nico, who claimed pole position after Lewis' disc failure and led the race from start to finish, can be seen here milking the home crowd with a wave. After Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, this year it's Nico and Mercedes. It was funny as I was waiting behind him for about five minutes hoping he would do what I wanted. I was perfectly placed for the full wave, so you see him smiling and showing his appreciation to the bigger crowd that turned up on Sunday."
