Lotus already well into design of 2015 car
23 July 2014 – Lotus Technical Director Nick Chester has confirmed the Enstone team is already "well into the design of next year's car" and that it looks "quite promising".
Lotus has had a challenging season and in the 10 races so far have scored points only twice, when Romain Grosjean claimed eighth place in both Spain and Monaco.
It is a complete contrast to previous seasons - last year the team scored 314 points in total and took 14 podiums, including one win - but Chester has insisted they will not give up on the troublesome E22.
"We will obviously have a good go at getting points in Hungary [this weekend] and then after the summer break the development of this car will still continue," he said.
"There will probably be one more sizeable package of new parts and then a series of smaller, simpler upgrades to bring fairly easy performance towards the end of the season.
"Looking further ahead, we are [also] already well into the design of next year's car.
"It looks quite promising with some very distinctly different features from this year's car," he added.
