Bianchi delighted with Q2 appearance
26 July 2014 – Marussia driver Jules Bianchi was overjoyed after reaching Q2 for the second time this season during Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying.
Bianchi made use of Pirelli's Soft compound tyre to edge out Kimi Räikkönen – whose Ferrari team risked using only the Medium rubber in Q1 – by six hundredths at the end of the first grid-deciding phase.
Once through, Bianchi finished as the slowest of the runners in 16th.
"I'm really, really happy to be starting from 16th, after making it to Q2 once more, and in the dry, without any tricky conditions," said Bianchi.
"My first run was not so good, as I made a mistake, but on the second run we had a perfect qualifying. So we made it through to Q2 for the second time this year and that is great for myself and the team.
"Tomorrow will not be an easy race but I hope it can be a good one."
Bianchi's team-mate, Max Chilton, will start the race from 19th position.
