Kvyat vows to learn from qualifying error
26 July 2014 – Daniil Kvyat has vowed to learn from the mistake that prevented him from progressing to the final phase of qualifying in Hungary.
The Toro Rosso rookie spun out in the late stages of Q2 whilst on a lap that would have been strong enough to take him through to Q3.
He ultimately had to settle for 11th, watching from the sidelines as his more experienced team-mate, Jean-Éric Vergne, secured eighth.
"It could have been an easy Q3 for me today, but unfortunately I locked the rear and I spun," said Kvyat after the conclusion of qualifying.
"I'm frustrated with myself, but I'm confident I will learn from this. I will put it behind me and focus on tomorrow.
"It's not easy to overtake here, but we will do our best from P11, which is not such a bad position to start from."
Vergne praised his mechanics for a series of influential set-up changes following Friday's practice sessions.
"The team has done a great job overnight to give me a car that I felt much better with today," he said.
"It's really encouraging for the race tomorrow. We just have to keep our head down and stay focused.
"I will give it 100 per cent and aim to finish the race as high as possible and score some good points."
