Vergne completes Assen Formula 1 demo
1 August 2014 – Jean-Éric Vergne completed his planned F1 demo on the streets of Assen on Thursday evening.
The Toro Rosso driver took to the wheel of Red Bull's RB8 chassis, used by Sebastian Vettel en route to the 2012 world title, in a special preview to the Gamma Racing Day, which takes place at the TT Circuit on Sunday.
Around 22,000 fans lined the pavements as Vergne carried out straight line runs, donuts and burnouts.
"I came here not knowing how to do donuts but I had to learn because this place is so narrow!" Vergne told GPUpdate.net. "It was good fun. It was also good to hear the V8 engine again. It's a beautiful sound, I love it."
Vergne will carry out further show runs at the Gamma Racing Day, which is free to attend for spectators. Red Bull reserve Sébastien Buemi will also be present as the Swiss driver attempts to beat the TT Circuit lap record.
