Hamilton encouraged by FP2 gains
22 August 2014 – Lewis Hamilton says he was pleased with the changes that were made to his Mercedes between first and second practice in Belgium.
After trailing team-mate Nico Rosberg in the opening 90-minute session, Hamilton surged six tenths clear on the Soft tyre runs in the afternoon.
"I'm sure I'm going to feel something tonight or tomorrow but it's definitely good to get back into the car," Hamilton explained to the gathered media.
"It didn't feel so good in the morning but it was better in the afternoon."
Hamilton made it clear, however, that he still has "work to do" if he is to be confident ahead of Saturday's qualifying session at Spa-Francorchamps.
Hamilton trails championship leader Rosberg by 11 points heading into the event.
