Verstappen makes Formula 1 test debut
26 August 2014 – Max Verstappen tested a Formula 1 car for the very first time today at Rockingham Motor Speedway in Northamptonshire.
The 16-year-old, who will become the youngest driver in Formula 1 history next year when he makes his debut in Australia, drove a Red Bull RB7 – the 2011 car – completing a number of runs in preparation for this weekend's VKV City Racing event in Rotterdam.
Verstappen is due to do some demonstration laps at that event on both Saturday evening - as part of 'Burning Rubber Live' - and Sunday.
He will use the RB7 again there, a spokesperson for Red Bull confirmed to GPUpdate.net, but it will be in Scuderia Toro Rosso colours.
Verstappen, who has been racing in the European Formula Three Championship this year, was confirmed as a Toro Rosso driver for 2015 last week. He will team up with Daniil Kvyat, with Jean-Éric Vergne cast out into the Formula 1 wilderness.
