Mercedes offers first look at new W07
20 February 2016 – Mercedes has offered a glimpse of its 2016 contender, the F1 W07 Hybrid, by posting hyperrealistic artwork on its social media channels, prior to the team releasing official images on Sunday morning.
Mercedes, which conducted a shakedown with drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone on Friday, revealed a left-rear view of the car in a piece put together by Italian artist Marcello Barenghi.
Barenghi's artwork shows a largely similar colour scheme to Mercedes' recent creations, with silver, black and flashes of green featuring, though the angle hides the full extent of technical changes.
Mercedes will go on to publish full photos tomorrow, prior to the car running in public for the first time when the opening pre-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya gets under way next week.
Hamilton will run on Monday and Wednesday, with Rosberg driving on Tuesday and Thursday.
Under Formula 1's turbocharged V6 power unit era, which began in 2014, Mercedes has taken 36 out of a possible 38 pole positions, 32 out of 38 victories, and four out of four World Championships.
