Vasseur leaves Renault after one season
11 January 2017 – Frédéric Vasseur will leave his role as Renault Team Principal after just one season onboard, the two parties agreeing to split with immediate effect by "mutual consent", the squad has announced.
ART Grand Prix's Vasseur was installed as Racing Director for Renault's full-scale Formula 1 comeback in 2016, but management tweaks were made mid-season, and he took on the team boss position.
However, Vasseur and Renault have now agreed to go their separate ways for 2017.
"Both parties remain committed to maintaining the good working relationship they have enjoyed and expect this to take a new form sometime in the future," read a statement from the French manufacturer.
Jérôme Stoll (President) and Cyril Abiteboul (Managing Director) continue to lead the team.
Renault will present its 2017 challenger on February 21, the earliest confirmed launch.
