Haas unconcerned by lack of sponsors
16 March 2017 – Haas team boss Guenther Steiner is unconcerned by the lack of sponsors on the outfit's Formula 1 car for the second season running, making clear that "we can survive without them".
Besides its Haas Automation brand, only the logo of Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille, as per 2016, can be seen on the VF-17, which has retained a predominantly grey/black/red livery.
Asked about the situation by GPUpdate.net, Steiner responded: "I think if you look at the teams which have been here a long time and are very stable, they have no big sponsors.
"It's a difficult market for sponsors, I must say. I think if somebody wanted to sponsor us, then they are just waiting a little bit to see if we are stable in what we are doing.
"Would we have hoped to have a little bit more [on the car]? Sure. But we are fortunate that Haas Automation sponsors us, so we don't live on sponsors, we can survive without that.
"We will try to get sponsors on the car, but it's a difficult market."
Romain Grosjean has been joined by Kevin Magnussen at Haas for 2017.
US tech firm Microsoft, one of Grosjean's partners, can be seen on both race suits, while Magnussen brings sponsorship from Danish clothing group Bestseller (Jack & Jones brand).
