Kubica to make appearance at Goodwood
20 June 2017 – Robert Kubica will make his first Goodwood Festival of Speed appearance next weekend, driving a 2012-spec Renault E20 up the famous hill run.
Kubica competed in Formula 1 between 2006 and 2010 but his career was halted when he sustained serious injuries in a rally crash in February 2011, limiting the mobility of his right arm.
Kubica returned to competitive action in rallying before dabbling in circuit racing once more last year.
Kubica sampled Formula 1 machinery for the first time in six years when he carried out 115 laps in Renault's E20, used by the team under its Lotus guise in 2012, at Valencia's Ricardo Tormo Circuit earlier this month.
Following his private test, Kubica stated that he was eyeing a "proper comeback", and he will now take to Goodwood's famous hill on Sunday 2 July, his first public appearance in an F1 car since 2011.
"I've just heard Robert Kubica is coming to the Festival of Speed for the first time," said Lord March in a video posted to Drivetribe.
"Robert drove me around the circuit a few years ago and we had an unbelievable experience, he had this BMW on fire, we went through a set of tyres in four laps and a gearbox every six!
"So we're looking forward to seeing Robert in full tilt flying up the hill."
Festival organisers announced earlier on Monday that Bernie Ecclestone's career in motorsport will be honoured at the event.
