Kelvin Snoeks has been ruled out of this weekend's F2 event at Brands Hatch after breaking his ankle in a scooter accident.
The Dutchman, who took his maiden podium in international motorsport at Marrakech in May, was taken to hospital following the accident and had successful surgery on his ankle yesterday.
"The operation went really well," said Snoeks. "I thought I would be out for longer but they have put a pin in my bone and a plate behind my ankle, so I am hopeful that I will be back for Brno. I am told that it should heal really quickly - hopefully I will be fit in two weeks. I was really looking forward to Brands Hatch as it is a great circuit, but I suppose I have to be happy that I can be back soon."
While admitting his disappointment at missing out on Brands Hatch, the 22-year-old confirms he will be watching both races closely on Eurosport and predicts that it could be a special weekend for a British driver.
"I will be watching at home on TV, which I am sure will be fun although I would rather be out there of course," concluded Kelvin. "Palmer is doing a great job at the moment so I am sure he will be favourite to take at least one victory this weekend."
Fellow racer Johan Jokinen has been missing from the F2 grid since Monza, although he was due to return in Portugal - a broken toe ruling him out of the weekend and also accounting for his absence at Brands Hatch.
