Nicola de Marco heads to Brno after enjoying one of his strongest weekends of the year in the Czech Republic twelve months ago. Prior to this year’s races, the Italian is placed a self-confessed disappointing 12th in the Formula 2 standings.
In 2009, Marco enjoyed pole position at Brno before leading in Race 1 and then picking up his maiden F2 podium in Race 2.
“Last year, even though it was only the second event of the season, I ran very well at Brno,” he said. “I like the track and I want to finish what I missed out on by a whisker last year and win!
“I've scored points in the last four races but I think that I was the only one to go out four times in a row at Marrakech and Monza! Therefore, in terms of my situation in the championship, it's not looking all that rosy.
"However, I'm very confident about the latter part of the championship and I want to make sure it's understood how much I'm worth in a season that has been difficult for me.”
With 12 rounds down and six to go in 2010, Nicola now aims for three clean events at Brno, Oschersleben and Valencia.
“I think that this year's bad luck is over...or at least I hope so!” he laughed. “My aim is to get into the top five of the championship; clearly it's not what I hoped for when I started, given that the main objective was to win, but now there's no point crying about it - this is the situation and I need to roll up my shirt sleeves and finish the season well.”
